At Lakeview Vision, we provide advanced specialty contact lenses for patients whose vision or comfort needs go beyond what standard soft lenses can offer. This includes Scleral, Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) and Specialty Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) lenses.
Each lens type is carefully fit using corneal mapping technology, which takes thousands of data points to create a highly detailed map of your eye. This ensures your lenses are tailored to your exact eye shape, prescription, and lifestyle for maximum comfort and performance.
Specialty lens fittings require more than a standard contact lens exam. We combine: advanced corneal mapping for precision lens design, customized fittings tailored to your eye health, prescription, and comfort needs, and ongoing follow-up care to ensure long-term success and safety.
Scleral lenses are larger in diameter than traditional contact lenses and rest on the white part of the eye (the sclera), vaulting completely over the cornea. This design creates a liquid reservoir between the lens and the eye, which smooths out corneal irregularities and provides continuous hydration. Patients often find scleral lenses more comfortable than other rigid lenses because the lens doesn’t touch the corneal surface.
Who benefits most from Scleral Lenses:
Orthokeratology, or Ortho-K, uses custom-designed contact lenses that are worn overnight to gently reshape the front surface of the eye (the cornea). By morning, the lenses are removed, and most patients can see clearly throughout the day without needing glasses or contact lenses.
Who benefits most from Ortho-K:
Specialty RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) lenses are smaller, firm lenses that rest directly on the cornea and deliver exceptionally crisp vision. Because they hold their shape, they correct vision more precisely than many soft lenses. These lenses can be customized into different designs, such as multifocal RGPs for patients who want both distance and near vision in one lens, KBA keratoconic designs for those with keratoconus or highly irregular corneas, and aspheric designs for enhanced optics and stability.
